Why do I need to enter the last 4 digits of my employee's SSN in paystubs?

The last four digits of the employee's SSN that you enter will be displayed on the pay stubs.

As SSNs help one keep track of the earnings, the amount contributed toward the social security program, and the number of years worked, having it on pay stubs can come handy while submitting proof of income.
