Bereavement leave is taken by employees in the event of a death in their immediate family to make arrangements and attend services. There are no federal or state laws that require employers to provide paid or unpaid leaves for employees for bereavement, except Oregon.

Employers in Oregon with 25 or more employees must provide paid bereavement leave to their employees. Employers with less than 25 employees are not required to provide both paid and unpaid bereavement leave.
To sum, employers, at their discretion, may provide employees the bereavement leave, either paid or unpaid, except the employers in Oregon.
