Why the stub number field is marked mandatory?

The prime reason behind marking it mandatory is to avoid duplication in creating pay stubs.
Also, if you have the pay stub number, you can easily search for a checkstub created for any prior pay period and view its summary. You can view the details of the stubs created in the past from the 'Order History' tab. In addition to this, you can also choose it to download or email the pay stubs to employees and contractors from the application.
